Why the gun?

March 26, 2010

Why the gun? And why separate out from politics something that seems so essentially political?
The answer is both simple and complex;

It is simple to say that guns make everyone equal,

It is complex when you understand that as a gun owner, a gun user and a gun carrier you dictate exactly how far you will allow yourself to be trampled upon. You are not given your freedom by others; you possess it of your own accord. No one may remove your liberty from you until they overcome your gun.

Without a gun, you are a serf, a subject, a servant; you are easily taken and cannot easily fight back simply put, If you do not own and carry a gun, you can and will be ruled. The rifleman and the pistolero willingly place themselves under the authority of others, by pledging their loyalty to their country or state or whatever body they so choose, if they choose. They may be governed but they are never ruled.

This scares many, the idea that someone else has the power to quickly, nearly effortlessly take a life, offends the sensibilities of shielded and sheltered minds, desiring the known comfort and pseudo security of the gilded cage to the abject unknown and infinite possibilities of the free world. Preferring to place the responsibility of the defense of their own perceived liberty into the hands of others, while at the same time despising those they relegate their responsibility to, eschewing violence as uncivilized and denying history as unenlightened and open to interpretation and speculation. As this disease of ignorance and pacifism spreads it smothers the flame of liberty under the blanket of false security and reliance upon the state.

You see owning a gun, becoming proficient in its order of arms, doesn’t simply make you effective with that weapon, it makes you free. Without it you are a serf, with it in your hands, you are a king, and that’s what we have in America, a nation of little kings. Given a national birth right to rule ourselves for life, each of us to have a say in the goings on in our nations, not because the government tells us we can, but because we tell ourselves we must!

Politics? I don’t think so! Life! Liberty! The Pursuit of Happiness! If you seek these things, you must be armed, for those who would take these things away from you are not going to consider your natural human rights, they will take them from you by guile if they can and force if they must, and to that end you must gird your minds and ready your arms to resist! The Constitution of the United States gives us liberty; it secures the government behind iron bars to keep it away from us as much as possible. And it gives us the methods to lock that government back in its cage should it ever slip its chains and begin to trample our freedoms. And if the Constitution is the cage, the declaration of independence and the bill of rights are our blood pact to keep that cage locked for all eternity! Lives, fortunes and sacred honor; pledged then pledged now, it is my belief that every American is honor and duty bound to uphold and defend the constitution of the United States with their very lives, just as much as any member of the Armed Forces. It was not federal troops standing up to the greatest army the world had ever seen at Lexington and Concord, it was simple citizens, who became little kings when they picked up their guns.

“Freedom is not a gift. It is not given to you by the government, in a precise dosage that can be adjusted to match a politician’s diagnosis of what ails the body politic. Your forefathers won an impossible Revolution against an invincible foe to declare the self-evident truth that your rights descend from your Creator.” –Dr. Zero hotair.com
